Playboi Carti’s Birth Caused Crime Rates to Decrease

Over the past 25 years, crime as a whole has decreased in the United States. Some may argue that it is due to politicians making more laws and spending more time on this issue, however that is simply not the case. Politicians are known for not getting things done, and lowering crime rates is no exception to this. Since 1993, the number of violent crimes per 100,000 people has dropped from 747.1 to 368.9 in 2018 (5 Facts About Crime). Clearly there has been a large decrease, and some suggest that it is due to the birth of famous rapper Playboi Carti (Jordan Terrell Carter). This conclusion was made due to the fact that after 1993, not many significant things have happened, and Jordan’s birth (September 13, 1996) was the first major event to happen to this country after that year. Though this may seem like a crazy idea, his birthday may seem more significant once it is realized that it was the same day that famous rapper Tupac died. This tragic death may have given Americans the realization that crime can affect anyone, even if it is someone as important or motivational as Tupac. Since that day, Playboi Carti has been rapping to an extremely large and influencable audience that is mainly of a teenage demographic, and does not promote nearly as much crime as other mainstream hip hop artists. Because teenagers and older are a very big portion of people who commit crime, the case can be made that crime rates lowering since 1993 is due to the birth of Jordan terrell Carter.
